Observing to become a better artist. Observing,really looking on daily basis is one of the element to becomeing a better artist. Put yourself in that Zen like state of observation.

( Zen teaches that the potential to achieve enlightenment is inherent in everyone but lies dormant because of ignorance. It is best awakened by breaking through the boundaries of mundane logical thought.  )

So start thinking outside the box.

Zen and the artist 
When you really get yourself completely into your art, when you completely focus the creative aspect starts to loosen up.

You start to become completely absorbed in the action of painting and you thnk of nothing else.

Painting as a form of Meditation

In way painting is a way to meditate. When you are in your Zen , you are focused you are observing,really looking, you are complete in your observation of the image and nothing else matters.

Self-directed Evolution

 Setting Goals for 2011

I decided that this woud be the year of Self-directed Evolution. I try to find a buzz work to keep me going each year to push me a little. I like this one.

We are gradually influenced, every single day, by a thousand small shifts that come into our
lives.

 By decideing where you would like to be in 52 weeks self directed, you can make decission that will help you get there quicker.

I am convinced that we are influenced far more than we know by our environment . I know I watch to much TV and have not been reading enough. I also know I read more than 99% of the US population. scary to think how many people let other direct them. The things we think about do shape our lives.The way we talk to outselves make a difference. I am great for talking to my self to my paintings to the cat, for the cat, now I make it positive. I change the adjective and adverbs to be uplifting and exploritative.

One of my resolution this year is to run everyday, weather permitting. I have decided that I will listen to audio books while I run, doing what wemon do best multi tasking.

 I hope you will be just as thoughtful about the "little things" that influence you more quietly, the things that fill your environment with hidden or subtle messages.

 Choose the radio station in your car. Choose the books on your coffee table. Choose the shows and movies you watch. Chosse the words that you talk to yourself with.Choose the artwork that you look at everyday.You noticed I said choose because it is alway up to you.

Think
Think about the people you associate with and listen to their words with a "third ear" that scrutinizes everything and asks, "Is this good for me?" Your life will be shaped in powerful ways by the "stuff"
that surrounds you every day, all year long. Choose well!

Do what you love

The Balancing Act

The Balancing Act

If you are like me you have to balance so many things at one time it becomes hard to focus on what is the most important.

 I need to really focus on improving my art. I also want to take my career into my own hands. This means that I needed to spend a considerable amount of time marketing.

So I have to get better at reducing the busy work that is not productive.Eliminate the time wasters and focus on the tasks that will get you to your goals. 

Instead of trying to sell and market to everyone,I must begin to focus
on a very specific audience. My target audience.

By focusing on a specific audience, I'll be much more likely to
figure out what that audience wants and understand how I can
best serve them.

Once I know how to serve my audience really well, I can use
that knowledge and understanding to expand.

Now I can really focus on what is important to me improving my art.

Has the art world turned is's back on you?

I am sure we have all had a moment were we have felt this way.
The economic recession could bring new meaning to the term “starving artist.”
It’s never easy to sell art, and it gets more difficult during a recession
Things you can do while sales are slow:
1. Paint more and learn more. Takes those chanse you were afraid to. So just dive in and get those bruses covered with paint.
2.Market your business

3.  Upgrade your Internet presence How is your website looking? What about your Facebook page? Your blog? Your other Internet sites

4. Clean the Studio organize those files.
5.Take a creative art trip.Paint on site, visit other artist studio,network,go to galleries. Visite area where you think you might like gallery representation and see if there is a gallery that fits.
