This is our Memorial Day Weekend

This is a time traditionally set aside to honor those who gave their lives for our freedom.
We are free people and we can disagree about where, and
how, and when we should defend freedom, but we are only
free because brave men and women have resisted tyranny. In
honor of those who died on 9/11, and to all of those who
have sacrificed through the centuries so that we can have
our picnics and watch our races, and have our debates

We Are What We Imagine

 "We are what we imagine.
Our very existence consists in our imagination of ourselves.
The greatest tragedy that can befall us is to go unimagined." -- N. Scott Momaday
I love all medium of art. I often take a break from oil painting to explore some of them. I keep coming back to oils ,I love the way it spread on the canvas creamy and thick or smooth and transparent. I like the way oils reflect light and the endless color combination I can make.
These are a few of my daily paintings:I like to take and make a composite of them at the end of the week.
This is one of my larger works.
Fall Colors
16x20
Thanks for stopping in.

Having Fun with Art

French Art Thief
style="font-size: 18pt; color: black; ">After careful planning, he got past security,
stole the paintings from the Louvre, and made it safely to his van.

However, he was captured only two blocks away when his van ran out of gas.

When asked how he could mastermind such a crime yet make such an obvious error, he replied, 'Monsieur, that is the reason I stole the paintings.'

I had no Monet

Green Series

This is the second painting in my Green Series,Green occupies more space in the spectrum visible to the human eye than most colors, and is second only to blue as a favorite color. Green is the pervasive color in the natural world, making it an ideal backdrop in interior design because we are so used to seeing it everywhere.

High Curiosity

Twice a week I get a nice email in my in box from Robert Glen.
They are always well written, he has a way with the written word that paints color in my mind a way that I aspire to be able to write like.

Today he he waxed colorfully on the art of measuring yourself for four virtues--motivation, curiosity, work habits and ego force--you can get an idea how your own chances stack up.

Then again you might just become a roaring success by being lackadaisical, ignorant, lazy and without confidence. In the funny game we call art, it's been done. Regarding ego force, we don't always like people who have it. If you have it, and need to be liked, you ought to consider letting most of it come out the end of your brush.

"What makes people smart, curious, alert, observant, competent, confident, resourceful, persistent--is not having access to more and more learning places, resources, and specialists, but being able in their lives to do a wide variety of interesting things that matter, things that challenge their ingenuity, skill, and judgment, and that make an obvious difference in their lives and the lives of people around them." (John Holt)

Baby Steps

"I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it." --Pablo Picasso

No matter what you're trying to achieve or transform in your life, my bet is that the easiest, and probably the fastest way to "get there" is to commit to a series of daily baby steps. List small, simple actions you can take in pursuit of your goals every single day. Then commit that you will do them, every day, no matter what. I think you'll like the results. This comes from Philip E Humbert's Tips for Extraordinary Living to read more visit his website.

I have started my green series. I plan to work through about 30 ideas painting them small. I then want to take 5 or 6 of these ideas and expand on them. Trying larger paintings with them.I also plan on doing at least 2 large abstracts just to make me stretch a little.Big plans but I have started the Baby steps.

This is the first in my green series of spring paintings. I added a little whimsical note by putting a small fairy in it. I hope the frog knows it's not a bug.

A little Fun in the Studio

A "paraprosdokian" is a figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected in a way that causes the reader or listener to re-frame or reinterpret the first part. It is frequently used for humorous or dramatic effect, sometimes producing an anticlimax.

So for fun today I am passing this along to you.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

If I agreed with you, we’d both be wrong.

We never really grow up; we only learn how to act in public.

War does not determine who is right – only who is left.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it’s still on the list.

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.

A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

I didn’t say it was your fault; I said I was blaming you.

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars but check when you say the paint is wet?

Behind every successful man is his woman. Behind the fall of a successful man is usually another woman.

A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!

Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back.

A diplomat is someone who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you will look forward to the trip.

Hospitality: making your guests feel like they’re at home, even if you wish they were.

Money can’t buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with.

Some cause happiness wherever they go. Others whenever they go.

I used to be indecisive. Now I’m not sure.

When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water.

You’re never too old to learn something stupid.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Nostalgia isn’t what it used to be.

Some people hear voices. Some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever.

A bus is a vehicle that runs twice as fast when you are after it as when you are in it.
