A portrait for you

I worked on a year end painting portrait swap with 180 other artist in December. This is the painting I did for the swap.
I realized after working on this painting that I really do not do enough portrait paintings to get as good at them as I would like to be. The only way to improve your painting skills is practice, practice and just a little more practice.
So if you would like to help me out send me an email with a jpeg of a picture of yourself. I will be painting 10 portrait paintings over the next 2 months. If you send a picture I will paint it in oils on gessoed paper and ship the finished painting to you for free for letting practice on you.
A word of warning I do not promise a life like painting or even human colors. It may be done as a Fauvism, Abstract Expressionism, Post Impressionism or what ever the artist feels in the mood to paint.
I apologise in advance for only being able to pick 1o to work from. My email address is at the bottom of this post . Thank You.

This weeks Aceos:

Available at my E Bay Store. All Aceo's I am starting at auction at 95 cents.

Make one Change

As you come back from holiday celebrations, the temptation is to fall back into the familiar routines from last year. If you don't change what you do, do not expect to get any different results.

Unless you really want the same results you got last year, you will have to do something different.

Take a long, hard look at things you want to change. Do you want better or new work habits ? You have to want to start. Why not make 2010 just a bit happier, healthier and more prosperous! What that means is doing at least one thing different! And keep doing it until it become a habit.

I'm a daily painter and I paint one small painting a day usually a 6x8 for arounf $100.00. This year I am going to start to do small ACEO's and post daily on the ebay acution with a starting bid of 95 cents.

If you have never heard of an ACEO:

Description of artwork

About ACEO Cards:
ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions and Originals". These cards have one main rule - they are 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches - the size of a trading card. The reason for this is that Art Cards are made to be traded! Art cards are normally available at low prices so that they're available to anyone. Artists from all over the world are creating, and now selling these highly collectables art cards in many different mediums. Watercolor, Oil, Acrylic, Colored Pencil, Pastels, Photographic, Pen and Ink, Sketching, Collage - the sky is the limit. Abstract, Surrealism, Outsider Art, Impressionism, Expressionism -every style you can think of - and then some! Extremely collectible Pocket Art, you can't stop at just one! They can be displayed as artworks - hung in decorative frames either individually or in groups. It is signed and dated on the back.

Save the Battery in your Laptop when you travel

I got these wonderful tips from The Travel Writes Life.

Long flights are great for getting things done – processing photos, writing , organizing tasks.

But if you’ve got a long flight ahead of you, your laptop battery might not last the flight.

Here are some ways to make your laptop last longer on the plane... or any place that’s lacking in outlets:
1. Don’t just sleep your computer, hibernate it. Most laptops go into“sleep” mode when you close them, but you’ll save more energy if you put it into “hibernate” mode instead.

2. Turn off your Wi-Fi switch. When your Wi-Fi switch is on, your computer is always searching for networks. But if there aren’t any --like on most planes -- turn off the switch to save energy. Check around the edges of your computer for a switch with a Wi-Fi symbol on it. And don’t forget to turn it back on when you want to connect again.

3. Use the touch pad instead of a mouse. Unplug all USB devices, including your mouse, and use only the touch pad.

4. Dim the screen. The brighter your screen, the more power you’reusing. (Most laptops will dim when you hold down the Fn button and use the down arrow).

5. Close programs that you aren’t using. For example, if you have an instant messenger program open, but you can’t send any instant messages because you don’t have Internet access, then close the program.
